Welcome to Little Kitty Kiddies Daycare.
The Little Kitty Kiddies daycare is a school that feels just like home and that’s what makes it stand out.
Looking at the photo on top, standing in your left is Nothemba, whose nickname is ‘Stesh’ and you have Stella on the right. I met them about a year ago when they hired me as their photographer to help them get some social media images for their school, Little Kitty Kiddies.
After getting to know them and their business I thought to myself that there is much more to these two ladies. They have this big passion in looking after little kiddies and I wanted to know what the spark is that sets them apart from the rest. A small piece to a greater plan. It’s the small things that matter!
“We want to bring hope into this country by raising kids well in a homely and loving environment.”
I was curious to get some more information on their daycare centre, “Little Kitty Kiddies”, so we set up an interview with them where I asked them some open and honest questions and what they would love to share.
They are both highly skilled businesswomen. Stesh has an admin and tax account background and Stella in admin, worked for 11 years in the accounting department at CPUT (Cape Peninsula University of Technology)
1. So you are both business women, do you teach, and are you involved with the kids activities?
“We are not teachers in the sense of teaching classes. However, we support and assist when needed.
2. Do you have kids of your own? Name and age?
Stesh?“No kids yet but I‘m not married.
Stella?“Yes two daughters, Madison (6) and Mickayla (2)” they attend the daycare and are my little helpers.
3. You are teaching the kids, have you learnt something from them?
Stella: “Yes, I learn to be patient. They have the sweetest faces and can get away with things easily, I must learn that trick!” (Giggles)
Stesh:“Their easy manner in which they love and forgive is so liberating and priceless to witness.”
4. What are your hopes for the future of this country, and for the kids future?
Stesh:“My hopes for our country is that our kids can be taught the responsibilities that go along with the many rights we have as a nation, so that they can grow to be responsible, respectful, honest adults.
Stella:“Kids need a lot of love especially from that early age, they are like sponges, they absorb so much during this time phase. I believe by instilling the right principles together with the love and care that they seek and need, they will grow to be the responsible, honest adults for the next generations to come!” Spend time with them and give them the right morals, by this the world would be a better place.”
“We share and express a lot of love here at Little Kitty Kiddies, we set the right compass for the children to guide and protect them, and through this they respect others and things.”
5. If this was your last day on earth, and money wasn’t a problem, what would you do?
Stella,“ I make sure I am in right standing with God. I would take myself and family to church and make sure we are right standing with God.
You don’t want to go to the Caribbean rather Stella?
No! When I die I can go to heaven and that’s my Caribbean!”
Stesh, “God is a very integral part of my life. I would spend time in prayer with the Lord as He alone can show me the areas of my life that need to be made right. And I would tell everyone around me how much I love and appreciate them.
6. Who would you want to Interview?
Stesh:“My pastors wife, she is an amazing lady – she remembers everyone in all our 3 national branches, always makes time to listen, give advice and guidance. Her love, kindness, patience and wisdom. She is a mother, a wife, a friend, a leader, a business woman and she plays each role with such finesse and humility.
Stella:“God. I want to know the beauty of God and ask Him Questions of how He put things together in His creative way when He created the world. A bit of the mind of God.”
7. What makes a good friend?
“A person that is God-fearing, honest, not too serious of a person, open minded and easy going.”
8. How would you describe yourselves in a few words?
Stella:“Open to people and trusting of God.
” Stesh:“I am kind, softhearted and I love people but God enables me to do all these things.”
9. Favourite Holiday place in South Africa?
Stesh “East-London. No actually it would be Sun City!!
Stella “Not in a jungle! I think as long as the place has spa and a nice hotel room, I love to sleep and relax!”
10. Where do you see your school in 10 years time?
“We have started up small but we will grow the school up to grade 7 and by the grace of God we will open up many branches all over South Africa and Africa as well. We believe in spreading the love God has instilled in us.”
11. Tell me a little bit about how you met and how you got here?
“We’ve known each other since 1997, went to school together in Butterworth. In 2006 we reconnected in Cape Town and mid 2016 Stella came up with the plan of opening a Daycare after praying about it over a year. We both said our goodbyes to the corporate world and started our journey of caring for toddlers.”
Stesh: “I couldn’t believe that was the idea Stella had in mind for us. I know I love kids but looking after them the whole day was definitely no child’s play.”
12. What are your morals and values for the school? Rights and Wrongs?
Judgment of what’s important in life? ”We teach kids that everyone is special, no one is better than the other, we are all children of God.”
How do you start your day at Little Kitty Kiddies?
“We start our day with the Morning Prayer and praise and worship. And every meal time we bless our food. The children have adopted our attitude of prayer that they now even use it in pretend play.
“Our motto is based on Proverbs 22:6-
Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
“The Godly principles become a compass for them so that when they need it and no one else is there for them, God will then redirect them onto the right path.”
